Windows 10/11, 64-bit. VNA communication uses a USB serial COM port and does not require a VISA runtime. Check model compatibility before connecting an instrument.

Tested with a NanoVNA-F series unit using NanoVNA-F_V2 firmware; other text-console models require validation. Demo uses synthetic data.

Release notes

What's new in RF Lab

$ v0.1.3
  • Choose a saved OSL/THRU calibration directly from the list. Switching profiles or toggling Use calibration immediately updates the current sweep without measuring again.
  • The calibration wizard highlights the current Measure button, shows progress while reading, and warns when SHORT or LOAD resembles another standard or THRU transmits like OPEN. A questionable step can be measured again.
  • Deleting a saved calibration asks for confirmation and selects the next available profile.
  • Fit to data is available above the main and detached charts; marker controls and chart legends are clearer.
  • Demo measurements use a series RLC circuit, and the Demo cable shows a synthetic 10 m cable response. Neither requires an instrument.
  • CSV exports can include measurement details, and MD Visor reports include Smith, impedance, phase, group delay and TDR views.
$ v0.1.2
  • Clearer S11/S21 views, export controls, marker readouts and saved chart settings.
  • Export button remains readable on hover in both Blueprint Light and Studio Dark.
  • Two TDR views: band-pass reflection magnitude and low-pass step with explicit frequency-grid and DC-estimate limits.
  • Touchstone export now writes measured S11 as .s1p only. Sweep CSV preserves measured complex S11 and S21 without inventing unmeasured ports.
  • Touchstone import rejects malformed or unsupported data instead of silently shifting values into the wrong measurement columns.
$ v0.1.0
  • First public release: NanoVNA-F3 sweep over serial, one scan capturing S11 and S21 together at every point.
  • Ten view modes from that one sweep: S21, S11/SWR, Return Loss, Smith (full resistance/reactance grid), R+jX, S21 Polar, S21 Phase, S11 Phase, Group Delay, and TDR with an estimated distance-to-fault readout.
  • OSL (Open/Short/Load/Thru) calibration wizard with its own PC-side correction, plus a Port Extension field for a fixed length of cable ahead of the DUT.
  • Segmented sweep (up to 16 segments) to exceed the NanoVNA-F3 firmware's own per-sweep point-count cap, stitched into one continuous trace.
  • Memory/overlay traces with per-trace colors, save-dedup, and rename-in-place; per-marker colors matching between the chart and the MARKERS list, with Q/parallel R+jX/equivalent L+C/return loss/VSWR shown per marker on the Smith view.
  • Touchstone reference import and export (export semantics corrected in v0.1.2).
  • Amateur radio band overlay, scoped to whichever bands fall inside the current sweep range.
  • Demo mode supplies a simulated sweep; no hardware is required for UI inspection.
  • Export to CSV, PNG, or directly into MD Visor as a report file.
